Mammography is specifically looking for the anatomy of the breast, while thermography is looking for physiology, or thermal temperature changes and may be able to reveal critical asymmetry patterns\u00a0 in the breast. In other words, as far as breast cancer, a mammogram will show a lump, where a thermogram will show critical asymmetry heat patterns created around the lump and feeding into the lump.\u00a0 Only a biopsy can determine if a tumor is cancerous.<\/p><p>Breast thermography is a very important screening tool for the 25-49 age group before an annual mammogram may be recommended. This is extremely important for younger women because breast tissue tends to be more dense making it more difficult for radiologists to see a tumor on a mammogram. Breast cancer in younger women also tends to be more aggressive making thermography an adjunct that may be critical in detecting any early signals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-3822\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-3822\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">IS THERMOGRAPHY A PROVEN TECHNOLOGY?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-3822\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-3822\"><p>Thermography has been comprehensively researched for over 30 years and FDA registered in 1982.&nbsp; While it is not a replacement for Mammography, it may have many valuable assets including: earlier detection of neovascular (blood supply) patterns, adjunct to inconclusive mammograms, improved detection for women with dense breasts or implants.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-3823\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-3823\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">WHAT IF I GET A REPORT WITH ABNORMAL RESULTS?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-3823\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-3823\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Thermography is not diagnostic but gives early risk factors. This is great news because an abnormal result from a thermogram often buys time so that natural interventions and lifestyle changes can influence the outcome.\u00a0 At the least, the condition can be closely monitored with your practitioner of choice safely until conventional interventions need to be applied. A stable baseline can be established on the follow-up appointment. Our interpreting physicians will compare your images from your first imaging to those of your follow up imaging. When they do this, they are looking for signs that the breasts or areas of concern are thermographically stable. When they see this stability, they will recommend that you come back for imaging in one year for an Annual Follow-Up.
